Description
THIS COURSE IS RETIRING AND BEING REPLACED BY BCF 230

Intermediate Cost Analysis emphasizes development and application of cost analysis techniques and estimate interpretation. The course addresses estimate definition and planning, data collection, formulation, review and presentation, and documentation. Estimating techniques such as parametric, analogy, expert opinion and cost improvement curves are discussed in more depth. Computations are done using both spreadsheets and automated cost estimated integrated tools.

Required:
  • BCF 106, Fundamentals of Cost Analysis
  • BCF 131, Applied Cost Analysis
  • Intermediate level of competence with Microsoft excel or similar spreadsheet

    Recommended:
  • BCF 103, Fundamentals of Business Financial Management
  • BCF 206, Cost Risk Analysis
  • BCF 220, Acquisition Business Management Concepts
  • BCF 225, Acquisition Business Management Application
  • EVM 101, Fundamentals of Earned Value Management
  • 2 years of acquisition experience in cost estimating, financial management, or the earned value analysis job series is recommended
  • Algebra competence is essential
  • Some familiarity with probability and statistics is beneficial
